“Gilberto has been with our Company for the better part of 15 years and has always been rock solid as an employee. Whether we are in the middle of a stressful rush or working on cleaning projects when slow, Gilberto or “G” as we know him always wears a big smile and keeps a calm respectful presence about him. Regardless of any request made by a Guest or fellow SMILE, G will take care of it with an air of happiness about him that is truly contagious. Anyone who is fortunate to work in the kitchen along side G will be kept super positive and upbeat which in turn carries over to the front of house and ultimately to the customer. G also has a sizeable following when it comes to customers as well. Very often Guests will poke their heads into the kitchen just to say hello to their favorite chef. I will ask G who he was talking to and his reply is always the same, “Oh that’s my cousin!” G must be related to most of the valley and has a kind word for every customer he comes in contact with. From G, I have learned that if you treat everyone with respect as if they are part of your family, with a wink, a nod and a big smile, you will create a lasting relationship that is invaluable. We can all take a page out of G’s playbook; show up to work early, happy and grateful to have a job in which we can positively affect multitudes of people. With his big smile and positive attitude, G makes work an enjoyable place to be day in and day out. He is always available to cover shifts for other employees at a moment’s notice and leads the kitchen crew with the best example of a great work ethic every shift he works. Just the other day I watched Gilberto chase a customer down the street to return a $20 bill they had dropped on the way out the door – He’s a pretty stand up guy for sure!”
